Christmas Budget Planner and Holiday Spending Tracker

Private browser tool

Plan a Christmas budget and track holiday spending

Set a total spending target, compare planned and actual costs across eight categories, and keep a private gift list in the same browser. The saving calculator uses 105 calendar days until Christmas 2026, using the New York reference date. Nothing is connected to a bank account, and no planner entries are sent to this website.

Planned versus actual

Track holiday spending by category

Enter a planned limit and the amount spent so far for each category. Include tax, delivery, service fees, and tips in the category where they belong. The summary compares actual spending with your total Christmas budget and also warns when the category plan itself is above that total.

Private gift list

Add up to 50 entries. Mark an item as bought when it is done, or remove it when plans change. The list total is a planning cross-check: enter money already spent in the Gifts category above so it is included in the actual-spending summary.

Marking Bought changes the checklist only. It does not add that amount to Gifts spent. Enter the actual receipt total in Gifts, including tax and delivery; keep the gift-list amount as the plan. Download category CSV backs up categories only, not gift entries.

Worked example

Imagine a total Christmas budget of 600, with 150 currently saved, no spending recorded yet, and 15 weeks left. The initial saving target is 450, or 30 per week. Your category plan might assign 250 to gifts, 140 to food, 60 to travel, 40 to events, and 110 across the remaining categories. That adds to 600, so every planned cost has a place before you buy.

After spending 80 on gifts and 35 on food, enter those actual amounts and reduce the saved field only if that purchase came from the saved balance. With 115 spent and 150 still saved, the amount left to fund becomes 335. The spending tracker separately shows 485 of the total budget not yet spent. If the category plan rises to 650, the status warns that the plan is 50 above the total even before actual spending reaches it.

Privacy, storage, and limits

The planner stores the total, category amounts, and gift entries only in local storage in this browser. They are not sent to the website, attached to an account, or visible to the site owner. The data can disappear if you clear browser storage, use private browsing, change devices, or if the browser blocks local storage. The Clear planner data button removes this tool's saved values from the current browser.

This is a manual planning aid, not a bank-connected ledger, payment system, or backup for confidential records. It cannot verify transactions, calculate tax automatically, compare prices, or carry data to another device. Do not enter passwords, card details, addresses, account numbers, or any information you would not want stored on a shared computer.

Use a short review routine

Open the planner when you set the budget, after each purchase, and before a decision that could add a large cost. Enter the amount currently saved and still unspent, then record purchases as actual spending in the matching categories. The saving result subtracts both from the total so the same purchase is not counted twice. If the gift list is taking more than expected, decide which category changes before spending more.

Keep amounts in one chosen currency for one plan. The currency menu changes the label and formatting only. It does not convert exchange rates or compare prices between countries. If travel or family shopping involves another currency, record the conversion and any payment fee in a separate note, then enter a conservative total here. A little buffer is often more useful than a precise-looking number that leaves no room for delivery or price changes.

Budget planner questions

Is my gift list sent to the website?

No. Entries are stored only in local storage in the browser you are using.

Why did my saved list disappear?

Clearing browser data, changing devices, private browsing, or blocked local storage can remove it. Keep another private record for anything important.

Does the saving result include my bills or interest?

No. It divides the remaining target by the countdown weeks, or by days in the final six days. Add your own household costs and payment dates before acting on the result.

What belongs in a Christmas budget?

Common categories include gifts, food and drink, travel, decorations, cards and postage, events or clothing, giving, and a buffer. Change the amount in each category to reflect your own plans rather than treating an example as a recommendation.

How do planned and actual spending differ?

Planned is the limit you intend to keep for a category. Actual is what you have paid so far. Comparing them makes overspending visible while there is still time to adjust another category.
