- Separate damaged items from usable decorations.
- Label containers by room or display.
- Protect fragile pieces with suitable padding and keep small parts together.
- Record storage locations and any replacement needed before next year.
Split a large display into shorter sessions
Start with the items that are in the way or no longer safe. Choose suitable weather and daylight for outdoor work, and do not take on a task beyond the help or equipment available. A partially packed home is preferable to a rushed takedown.
