Choose a location to see its current local date, local time, and calendar-day countdown to Christmas 2026. One tool now replaces the site's repetitive country pages.

Large countries have several timezones. The selected city is a clear reference point, not a claim that the whole country shares one clock.
Useful local context
The tool includes a short planning note for each selected location. It does not try to describe every household or community. Christmas customs vary by region, faith, language, and family.
Christmas Day begins at 12:00 a.m. local time on December 25. It therefore starts in Auckland before Sydney, Manila, Kolkata, Europe, and North America. The selector above uses representative cities and never assumes that a large country has one timezone.

These city references explain the clock calculation. They are not a list of national customs, public holidays, or service times. For countries with multiple timezones, choose the city or zone that matches the actual event.
Why local day totals can differ by one
Suppose it is shortly after midnight on December 1 in Auckland while it is still November 30 in New York. Both places are counting toward their own local December 25, but their calendars show different current dates. A civil-date countdown can therefore differ by one even when both calculations are correct.
The homepage avoids an unlabeled mixture by publishing one answer of record in America/New_York. This page lets you select another reference explicitly. Exact seconds also differ because each location targets a different instant: local midnight rather than one simultaneous worldwide event.
Use the right timezone for the event
For a household countdown, use the timezone where Christmas morning will occur.
For a livestream or video call, publish one timezone plus a converter or a UTC time.
For travel, use the local date and time at each departure, connection, and arrival.
For software, store the IANA timezone name instead of a fixed abbreviation such as EST, which does not represent daylight-saving changes year-round.
The calculation methodology explains civil dates and rollovers. The JSON API accepts an IANA timezone parameter for programmatic use.
